• Melatonin, an evolutionarily ancient derivative of serotonin with hormonal properties, is themain neuroendocrine secretory product of the pineal gland. It regulates circadian rhythmicity and also exerts anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and anti-tumor capacities.
